Fall Yearling Bulls

With a lot of marketing mumbo jumbo talk about feed efficiency and some people’s misconception that larger framed growthy cattle can not feed out efficient, we decided to put our performance records out on the record.  We took our entire group of Fall Bulls to Millers Feedlot in Torrington, Wyoming to feed for 85 days.  When they returned to the ranch we did the ultrasound a week later.  The following attachment shows the actual closeout including lbs gained and feed conversion AF & DM.  The ultrasound data sheet shows that the bulls were not fat, and the feedlot closeout is a great example of how growthy bigger framed cattle can be just as efficient as the smaller ones and still offer carcass merit.  Understanding that most producers still sell their cattle by the pound, our focus on breeding performance traits like these in our program can really help the cattleman build profitability into their operation.  Additional note: we had 100% fertility pass on these bulls.

Percentile breakdowns from AAA

Welcome to our 30th Annual Angus Bull Sale. Our objective is to raise the “Right Combination Bulls” based on economically important traits that provide the most profitability for our customers.

As a seed stock producer we are striving to raise the highest quality beef in an efficient package. However, we are not overlooking the mama cow. Our cows wean calves at 205 days old weighing well over 50% of their body weight, they calf unassisted, stay structurally sound while in service, feed efficient and breed back. Raising females that produce excellent carcass traits are also a top priority. After all, when it is all said and done our progeny are being bred to raise calves that ultimately end up on someone’s dinner plate. Responsibility starts with cattle producers like us to make every effort to ensure a pleasurable eating experience for our ultimate customer, the beef consumer.

High carcass cattle with feed efficiency are in great demand and our bulls exceed the breed average. Some of our bull customers are averaging 650 pound weaning weights, a four pound per day gain in the feedlot, and weights up to 1400 pounds at 14 months. High carcass premiums are an additional bonus for some of our customers whose cattle have been at the top end of the grid. Check out our feedlot closeout and the ultrasound data on our Fall Yearling Bulls. What a great example of growthy bulls that feed efficient and they still passed a fertility soundness test.

The bulls offered here will increase your weaning and yearling weights, carcass value, have thickness, shape, style and eye appeal. Docility and, of course, scrotal development are important factors in sire selection. We have worked hard on selecting such traits in our A.I. Bulls, Natural Service Bulls and Mother Cows. If your cattle already have these performance traits, our bulls will not take away from what you already have established.

The majority of cattlemen in this day and age are looking for “Management Free Cattle”. Very little labor inputs, high weaning weights, high percent calf crop and high immune systems are an absolute must for so many cow calf producers. The bulls we are selling offer tremendous immune systems for thrifty, healthy calves at birth that get up and go. We are convinced that these proven genetics will also provide cattle an increase in growth performance, reproduction & maternal, structural correctness, and profitable carcass results. Any cattleman can benefit from these traits no matter what your marketing goals are.

Ultrasound information, adjusted 365 day weight, and scrotal measurements will be available on the website in mid January.

Ken feeds the bulls himself on the ranch. Feed consists of a growing ration including ground millet hay, corn silage, wet beet pulp, corn, oats, liquid supplement, Natur’s Way and Amaferm.

This is a personal invitation to you to come to the sale. Enjoy lunch; view the sale bulls, herd bulls, and the replacement heifers. If you are not able to attend the sale, please give us a call and we can buy the bulls for you, satisfaction guaranteed.
